The ability to work from home has been a blessing in disguise for workers who simultaneously held positions with more than two organizations, and the IT industry is now at risk. It’s known as moonlighting.

The term “moonlighting” refers to workers who hold multiple “side” employment in addition to their primary jobs. Although most companies have agreements with their employees that they cannot work for another firm, the pandemic reduced restrictions as employees switched to working from home, and keeping track of them grew challenging.

WFH has made it possible for IT professionals who couldn’t have imagined owning a home to now purchase apartments that cost about Rs 1 crore. Many people have also made investments in local real estate.

Everyone is happy with their success, but when a data breach occurs due to such advantages, the IT industry is concerned. The IT industry’s reputation has been harmed by the sharing of coding and algorithms by one company with other organizations.

Generally, the “WFH” option has been most destructive to the banking, fin-tech, and insurance industries.

The Telangana government’s IT secretary stated that the vicious loop needs to be stopped and that the companies should make guidelines for their employees after becoming aware of the back-end activities of WFH staff.

All things aside, the pandemic era proved to be an excellent time for employees, while it did prove to be a big fat lie for the IT industries. All companies have now decided to welcome back their staff members to work full-time in their private offices.
